Digital press relations is the work of turning a company's knowledge into story pitches that news sites and media outlets publish with a brand mention, so Google and AI tools recognize it as a source. At Busca Orgânica, every pitch starts from the audience's questions and points to a service page on the client's website.
When an industry news site publishes a data point from your company, Google gains external proof that the brand masters the subject, and AI tools gain a source to cite. That is the effect Busca Orgânica's digital press relations pursues: a mention earned through a pitch, tied to a service page that already exists on your website and measured in Search Console.
Busca Orgânica is a technology company with its own methodology, headquartered in Guarulhos (SP), with more than 700 clients served since 2021 (Grupo Orion corporate materials, Sep 2026). Press work enters this method as the stage that takes the client's knowledge beyond its own website.
What is digital press relations?
Digital press relations is the service that plans story pitches, produces the material that supports each one and offers it to journalists, editors and news sites. The goal is for the company to be mentioned on pages that Google indexes and AI tools consult. The concept, the comparison with traditional radio, TV and print press relations and the typical deliverables are covered in the guide what press relations is; on this page, we cover how we scope and run the service.
In the market, the same work also goes by the name digital PR. What changes the result is where each mention leads: here, every pitch reinforces a page in the client's SEO plan.
How is it different from off-page SEO?
Off-page SEO is the set of authority signals a website receives from outside: links, brand mentions, reviews and citations. Press relations is one way to earn those signals, the one that works with story pitches and editorial interest. The full picture, including what to evaluate in each mention, is in the post on off-page SEO and authority beyond your website.
The line is drawn like this: off-page SEO asks where the website's authority comes from; press relations asks which company story deserves to be published, and in which outlet. Clients who hire Busca Orgânica's SEO for businesses already get the technical work, the page architecture and the copy; press relations is the front that adds pitches and outlets to that work.
Why does a media mention carry weight with Google and AI?
A mention carries weight because it is a signal the company cannot control on its own. For Google, a news story that cites the company as a source is a signal of experience and authority that the website itself cannot manufacture. That is what the guide helpful, reliable, people-first content calls E-E-A-T.
AI tools that search the web, such as ChatGPT and Google's AI Mode, build their answers from excerpts of the pages they find and show those pages as sources. That is why we mark up the connection between the brand and the publications about it on the client's website, using organization and author structured data. When the goal is for the company to be cited consistently, press relations works alongside our GEO service, optimization for AI answers.
How does the service work in practice?
We treat digital press relations as an extension of content planning, in seven stages, each with its own deliverable:
- Brief and page map. We start from the client's brief and the list of service pages in the SEO plan. Every future pitch is born with its destination page defined.
- Audience questions. We gather what buyers ask about each service: Search Console queries, autocomplete suggestions and questions asked to AI tools. A commercial question becomes an FAQ on the page itself; a question that calls for data becomes a pitch.
- The client's own data. A pitch only moves forward when the company has data no one else has: order history, measured lead times, technical reports, client surveys.
- Evidence article. We write the master article with the data, the source and the method, with at most two links to the client: one to the service page and one to the brand.
- Distribution. The text is published first on the client's blog, which remains the original version. It then gets its own versions for LinkedIn, on the profile of the company's decision-maker (never on Busca Orgânica's profile), and for Medium. In parallel, we offer the pitch to industry news sites and outlets.
- Website integration. Every earned mention is logged against the service page it reinforces, and that page receives the data in a dedicated section.
- Measurement and new research. We check indexing, searches for the brand name and AI citations, and go back to the questions to choose the next pitch.
When press relations is part of an SEO project, it adds to the organic goals. In organic search, Busca Orgânica works with a contractual performance guarantee, with goals agreed at the start of the project. In press relations, what counts toward that are the deliverables of the seven stages, and the model is described in SEO with a performance guarantee. The number of publications never becomes a goal, because the outlet is the one who decides to publish.
Followed or nofollow link: what applies on each channel?
Not every mention passes authority through a link, and we say so before we start. A followed link is one Google can count as an authority signal; a link marked nofollow, sponsored or ugc (user-generated content) signals that the site does not endorse the destination. For AI tools, each channel's robots.txt (the file in which a site states which bots may read its pages) also matters. The table summarizes what we found on the channels we use, in a check by Busca Orgânica in October 2026:
| Channel | How the link appears | Why it is in the plan |
|---|---|---|
| Client's blog | Internal link, followed | It is the original version of the article and holds the proprietary data. |
| Industry news site or outlet | Editor's decision; paid content must be marked as sponsored | An editorial mention is the strongest proof of authority. |
| Medium article | External link marked nofollow | Readership and brand mention; Medium's robots.txt allows Perplexity's bot. |
| LinkedIn article | Visitors go through a LinkedIn redirect before reaching the website | Published on the decision-maker's profile; LinkedIn's robots.txt allows OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT's search bot, and blocks Perplexity's. |
What each OpenAI bot does is described in the OpenAI bots documentation. That is why the channel mix exists: Medium reaches the AI that LinkedIn blocks, and the client's blog holds the version no third party can take down.
What digital press relations is not
We do not buy links, we do not build private blog networks (so-called PBNs) and we do not sell publication packages. Google Search spam policies classify buying and selling links that pass authority, and excessive link exchanges, as link schemes. Large-scale article campaigns with keyword-stuffed anchor text fall under the same rule. A domain that plays this game can lose rankings from one update to the next, and the client pays twice: for the link and for the recovery.
Who benefits most from the service?
When it makes sense
The service delivers the most for companies that have a story to tell with numbers: manufacturers with order history and technical data, B2B service providers with measured lead times, clinics and law firms with organized case records. In our portfolio, manufacturing accounts for 159 projects, led by industrial machinery and equipment (Busca Orgânica client base, Oct 2026), and it is the profile with the most raw material for technical pitches: order history, technical reports and measured delivery times. The industry breakdown, in the language buyers use, is in SEO and GEO for manufacturing.
For companies that sell to other businesses, the news story also works as sales material: in B2B prospecting, the article link can be one of the touches in the cadence, because it is a third party talking about the company, not just another message from the company itself. When the pitch data is regional, the plan includes outlets in the client's state, which can be any on the list of service areas by state. Two local examples: service in São Paulo and service in Paraná.
When it is not the priority right now
If the website does not yet have a page for each service, or if Google barely indexes the domain, the mention has nothing to stand on. In those cases, we recommend starting with website design and SEO, and opening the press front once the destination pages exist. We also do not recommend the service to companies with no proprietary data to show: without raw material, the pitch turns into self-promotion and the chance of publication drops.
How much does digital press relations cost?
What drives the price of digital press relations the most is where each pitch's data comes from. We do not sell by number of publications, since publishing is the outlet's decision. The proposal is built pitch by pitch, and each item below weighs more or less depending on the company's situation.
| Proposal item | Weighs less when | Weighs more when |
|---|---|---|
| Data source | The company already has a report, an order spreadsheet or an organized technical report | The data requires a new survey of clients or suppliers. |
| Outlet selection | The pitch goes to one industry news site | The same pitch needs versions for an industry site, a business section and a regional outlet. |
| Versions per channel | The article is published only on the client's blog | Blog, the decision-maker's LinkedIn and Medium each get their own versions. |
| Page that receives the mention | The service page already exists and is indexed | The page needs to be created before the first pitch to the outlet. |
The proposal shows the monthly scope and what is left out of it. There is no fixed price list because the cost of getting to the data varies from one company to another, even within the same industry.
Concrete examples: how a pitch becomes a mention
The two examples below illustrate the method and were built without real client data, until we have an authorized press case study.
Manufacturing: order history as a pitch
An industrial equipment manufacturer keeps years of orders in its system. We cross equipment type, buyer industry and month of purchase and arrive at a question the audience asks and no one answers with data: at what time of year does the food industry renew its production lines. The evidence article is published on the manufacturer's blog, gets a version on the sales director's LinkedIn and is offered to an industrial maintenance news site. If the site publishes it, the mention points to the maintenance service page for that equipment, which receives the same data in a section.
Law firm: a recurring question as a pitch
An employment law firm often gets the same question from companies about time banks. The pitch becomes an article signed by the lawyer, covering the rule and the most common mistakes seen in the firm's cases, without naming any client. The text complies with OAB Provision 205/2021, which allows informational advertising and prohibits client solicitation; that is why the mention points to the practice area page, never to an offer.
How do we measure results?
Every mention goes into the report with the outlet, the date, the link type and the service page it reinforces.
Searches for the brand name come from the Search Console performance report, filtered by queries that contain the brand. For AI tools, we repeat the questions from the map in ChatGPT, Google's AI Mode and Perplexity and note whether the company appears and which page is cited. The monthly report combines the three readings: mentions, branded searches and citations.
